Some grocery stores are limiting toilet paper and disinfecting wipe purchases again
Several leading grocery chains are reimposing limits on key items such as toilet paper, paper towels and disinfecting wipes, hoping to keep their shelves stocked and prevent shoppers from hoarding as they did when the pandemic began in the spring.
At Kroger (KR), customers can purchase a maximum of two items when it comes to products like bath tissue, paper towels, disinfecting wipes and hand soap. A spokesperson said in an email that the limits began earlier this week and apply in stores and online.
Christopher Brand, a spokesperson for Giant, a grocery chain in the Northeast, said that the company was "seeing little evidence of stockpiling, and there is no need to create panic." But since the supply chain "remains challenged," Giant began last week putting a limit of one on purchases of larger toilet paper and paper towel sizes and four on smaller toilet paper and paper towel sizes.
H-E-B in Texas has implemented similar policies in recent weeks. Some H-E-B stores have instituted limits of two on purchases of disinfecting and antibacterial sprays, while other stores have limited toilet paper and paper towels to two.
The three companies say supply chains for securing these items are still strained. Around 19% of paper products such as toilet paper and paper towels and 16% of household cleaning products were out of stock during the week ending November 1, according to data from market research firm IRI.
The moves come as the United States its highest number of new coronavirus infections Thursday— at least 108,174, according to Johns Hopkins University. The five highest daily totals of coronavirus cases since the pandemic began have happened in the last week.
Meanwhile, nearly 60% of shoppers say they plan to stock up again as winter approaches, according to a survey of 1,000 shoppers by market research firm Inmar Intelligence conducted during the week of October 14.
In California, Raley's Supermarkets says it's not experiencing a run on paper products, but it's preparing to respond if that happens.
"We will continue to monitor stockpiling behavior closely and possibly reimplement [limits] accordingly in upcoming weeks," Paul Gianetto, senior vice president of sales and merchandising, said in an email.

HEB ở TX từ hồi tháng 3 tới giờ, nhiều lúc không có, nhứt là Disinfect wipes rất là khó tìm

mấy tuần nay tui đi Costco thì cái bảng ngay chỗ cữa bước vô là limit mấy cái này rồi,
gloves cũng vậy, tui lấy 2 hôp thì chỗ tính tiền nó flag liền
chỉ được 1 hôp thôi, không biết trở vộ lại thì cashier có được không? mà tui thấy 1 hôp gloves cũng đủ xài rồi

mình nhớ cái thời còn ở vn, mổi lần đi bứt cỏ phải sách theo ca nước để rữa đít, có bao giờ xài giấy đâu

0 có toilet paper thì xài water instead. 0 có hand sanitizers thì chịu khó rửa tay hoặc chùi tay trên giấy thôi!

bên Canada có gì đâu mà limit, tui thấy nó chất đống tui còn không tiên mua

thì đó, chùi đâu có sạch hoàn toàn, trước sau gì cũng phải rửa thì xé giấy chi cho phí, 18 cuồn charmin đủ cho tui xài lâu lắm

thì đó, chùi đâu có sạch hoàn toàn, trước sau gì cũng phải rửa thì xé giấy chi cho phí, 18 cuồn charmin đủ cho tui xài lâu lắm
Nhà tui lúc đầu cũng bon chen đi mua được 3 chai hand sanitizers loại 8 ounces rồi SIL xin 1 chai nên còn 2 chai. Tui đưa sớt ra 2 chai nhỏ portable đưa cho 2 gà con bỏ trong xe xài khi nào cần và tui cũng mang theo 1 chai nhỏ bỏ bóp!
Fast forward 7 tháng sau nhìn lại thấy vẫn còn 1 chai nguyên vẹn và chai kia hình như cũng chưa thấy thay đổi gì from the time we pour in the smaller bottles.
Kết luận là we hardly remember to use it or we just wash our hands! Bởi vậy kỳ này tui sẽ 0 đi mua thêm làm chi!

bên Canada có gì đâu mà limit, tui thấy nó chất đống tui còn không tiên mua
tui không biết, tui thấy toilet paper là limit 1, mà tui mua 1 là đủ xài rồi, của costco thì 1 bịt là nhiều lắm rồi

em mua hand sanitized nguyên bình gần 4 L của Costco đang bán $19.99, em cứ cho vô chai nhỏ bỏ túi mỗi khi ra đường, xài từ bữa tới giờ thấy bình 4L xài chưa tới đâu hết, không biết xài tới chừng nào mới hết, chứa nhiều mai mốt expired cũng vậy thôi

1 bịch giấy toilet của Costco 2 người xài cả năm. Hand sanitizer giờ đầy. Chợ nào cũng bán.
