The US just recorded more than 2,000 Covid-19 deaths in a day. One model predicts that number will keep growing
More than 2,000 American deaths were recorded by Johns Hopkins University on Thursday -- the highest number since early May.
And as the virus runs unabated across US communities, experts warn the coming weeks will likely be brutal and the pandemic's death toll will keep climbing.
By December 18, more than 2,300 Americans could be losing their lives daily, according to the University of Washington's Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME).
"We expect daily deaths to reach a peak of over 2,500 a day in mid-January," the IHME modeling team wrote on Thursday.

Eli Lilly’s monoclonal antibody treatment for Covid-19, bamlanivimab, got interim authorization from Health Canada Friday, according to a company news release.
The treatment is approved for use in Canada in adults and children older than 12 with a mild to moderate case of Covid-19 who are at high risk of progressing to more severe disease.
This is the second authorization for bamlanivimab. The US Food and Drug Administration gave it an emergency use authorization Nov. 9.
The treatment was created through a partnership with the help of the Canadian biotechnology company AbCellera.

Gà, mới nghe CNN phỏng vấn cái ông từ trường Đ/H bên WA, model của nhóm ông này so far rất đúng, mới đầu nhóm ổng predicted người ta nói: làm gì có, giờ ai cũng tin rồi vì xãy ra thật rôi

Okay, I just called everyone and cancelled ỏur Thanksgiving luncheon for this Sunday. Tính ăn trưa sớm ngày Chúa Nhật để trời còn ấm (59 degrees) và có thể ngồi ngoài sân. Và cũng chỉ limit có 18 người thôi (maximum allowed 25 people).
Nhưng thấy bác 8 hù xong làm tui sợ rủi ro có chuyện gì thì sẽ hối hận nên phone hết mọi người để cancelled rồi. Sáng mai thì phone cho my Dad biết rồi lái xe sang nhà bà Dì cho bả hay (she always turned off her phone cho nên 0 liên lạc được)!
