Airlines call for Covid-19 tests before all international flights
Global airlines on Tuesday called for pre-departure Covid-19 testing for all international passengers to replace the quarantines they blame for exacerbating the travel slump.
Rapid and affordable antigen tests that can be administered by non-medical staff are expected to become available in “coming weeks” and should be rolled out under globally agreed standards, the head of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) said during an online media briefing.
“We don’t see any alternative solution that would be less challenging or more effective,” IATA Director General Alexandre de Juniac said.
Airlines hammered by the pandemic are pressing governments to embrace alternatives to blanket travel restrictions that are still hampering a traffic recovery — and now tightening again in Europe amid resurgent case numbers.
With rapid antigen tests becoming available for as little as $7 each, De Juniac said, airlines will push for their use to be endorsed by International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), the U.N. agency that oversees global aviation rules.
A global agreement is needed to ensure test results on departure are accepted on arrival, he added. “It will also boost passenger confidence that everybody on the aircraft has been tested.”
Antigen tests are faster but generally more likely to miss positive cases of the virus than laboratory-based molecular diagnostic tests.
Among companies marketing the new tests, German diagnostics specialist Qiagen said earlier this month it planned to launch a Covid-19 antigen test that provided results in 15 minutes and could be deployed in airports or stadiums.

Antigen Test mà có chính xác không? Thấy mấy clinic testing sau một tuần mới ra kết quả. Mà có khi cho false result. Bay về VN đến hai trạm nghỉ; nhiều cơ hội bị lây lắm...

Tui dang o Maine va had to do covid téting on Weds 3 days arrival. They won’t accept antigen tets!

Free test ? Bay nội đia cũng yêu cầu test? Vậy khi Gà đi thì không nhưng về thì phải test?

No we drove to Maine but all those nỏrth east states required negative covid test done within 3 days of arival or u have to quarantine 14 days. Our insurance covers hopefully. we will see

Leaves are still mótly green and just starting to turn yellow. Maybe in 2 weeks would be beautiful.

Bà đi xe làm sao nó check, không lẽ tới ranh giới state phải check ?

Check in hotels they required you to sign an affadavit saying u have a negaticyCovid test téult within the last 3 days or you will have to quẩrantine

Thời buổi COVID thân nhân nhiều khi 0 cho tới ở ké nửa. Maybe là bố mẹ thì hoạ may chứ anh em nhiều khi họ cũng sợ.
Tụi tui nhát gan sợ lái xe ngoài đường bảng số xe ở VA cảnh sát thổi lại hỏi trình giấy COVID testing mà 0 có thì bị phạt $750K ÚSD giống như cái thằng đi ở CAD! Bởi vậy phải lo đi testing cho chắc ăn!
Họ dùng cái đồ quẹt lỗ mũi từ ngoài rồi đi sâu vào trong hơi khó chịu khoảng 7-8 giây là xong! OX tui có Blue Cross/Blue Shield nên họ covered hết cái cost này.
